Meteora from Kalambaka: three ways to see it without an early start in Athens
Kalambaka is the town at the foot of the rocks, and Kastraki the village right beneath them. If you sleep here, Meteora is ten minutes away and you can split the visit in two: the monasteries in the morning, while Great Meteoron is still open, and the rocks at sunset. These are the three local tours, all four hours long.

How to combine them
With one night in Kalambaka, the plan that works best is the monasteries tour in the morning (three inside, while Great Meteoron is still open) and sunset the same day or the next. With two nights and good legs, fit the hike in between. And check first which monasteries close on your day: the tour adapts, but it helps when choosing the date.
